This website was created in 2006 as a project of the Physics Department of the Univeristy of Modena e Reggio Emilia within the Progetto Lauree Scientifiche, in collaboration with CNR - Institute of Nanoscience, Center S3, Modena.

Mission
-
General goals:
- stimulate curiosity of young people about physics;
- provide multimedia materials for didactic purposes;
- contributing to basic instruction in scientific disciplines;
- contribute to popularization of science;
-
User objectives:
- easily and effectively visualize wave phenomena in the time domain;
- connect basic textbook notions to more realistic and appealing situations;
- make first-person experience of the scientific attitude and method, checking how simple study cases are addressed. Understand the unifying and predictive power of science;
- acknowledge the broad cultural value, and not only the technical content of exact sciences
-
Methods:
- build a multimedia didactic environment integrating ordinary lessons and drawings, movies, sounds, animations e interactive applets
- expand as much as possible the concept maps for every topic
- link basic notions to real world examples from curiosities to recent technological applications
- focus on problems related to sound and music since everybody shares a base of common experiences about them.
Intended audience
